Kris has stripped down the end of the wall separating the butler's pantry and the kitchen. Pilaster "B" will be built here.

More plastic zipwalls go up. This one keeps dust from getting here, the second floor, via the balcony.

Kris had some problems fabricating the Azek crowns for the windows because we needed to preserve the copper flashing. He figured it out.

Outside the kitchen, work on the new Azek trim is a main activity.

The Azek skirt board is added at the patio. I wanted the board ripped for maximum gap between the stone and the house framing base plates. There wasn't much room, but the resulting 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inch gap should be enough. It is certainly more than we had before (i.e. about zero).

Work continues on the Azek trim on the south side. What an improvement!

The butler's pantry rough plumbing from the basement side. It is in the middle of a very busy utility area. I got to exercise my copper pipe sweating skills. Note no burn marks!

The butler's pantry rough plumbing from the basement side. I added hot and cold water shutoff valves (red handles). The white PVC drain is unconnected at this point. The 1/4 in. tubing at center is the slack for the refrigerator ice maker.

When I took out the old butler's pantry sink, I needed to resupply cold water to the humidifiers on both the kitchen and the living room air handlers. I added these two water shutoff valves for the units. I tagged them for clarity.

The wall build-out continues. The ceiling LVL next to the butler's pantry is made cosmetically larger.

It looks like I'll be putting the old standby, surface-mounted, florescent tube, light fixture over the closet door.

Kris wants to cover the wiring with sheetrock soon, but I still need to get wired for the closet light.

There... I've bored through the sole plate for plumbing and managed to miss everything in the basement.

I'll run the supply and drain plumbing through the wall on the right side of the butler's pantry and down to the basement. Normally, it would go out the back of the cabinet and down, but in this case it is blocked by a basement LVL beam.

The ceiling beams are exposed. The polyethelyne zipwalls are holding the dust in.

The framed butler's pantry (foreground), hall closet (midground) and hallway (background). The new double doors will go between the hall closet and the hallway.

The sliding door to the patio is looking much better, thanks to the Azek trim.

Among our improvements on the exterior are much better mounting plates for the exterior sconces. These are cut from the Azek trim boards.

We found a good example of somebody "cutting before thinking." About 12 years ago, when the house was built, the original plumber neglected to think about framing under the floor. "Oops. Missed. Try again."
