The big push begins. With weather worsening, minds racing, hearts pounding, and occasionally, tempers flaring, we work all-out to move in by the end of this month. Will we make it? Stay tuned...

November 3. Recall that we needed three things in order to have heat and continue the interior work. We needed garage doors to close the house (check)…
[IMAGE]
November 3. …We needed oil in the tanks (check)…
[IMAGE]
November 3. …and we needed the furnace hooked up (check). Guess what? We have heat!

November 3. The trim molding gets stained.

November 3. The fireplace gets stoned. The stone face will go to the ceiling when done.

November 3. The Doors have entered the building.

November 3. Austin's bathroom gets tiled in his choice: Graphite, to match the color of his iMac. The bathroom should last a lot longer than his computer.
November 7. The cobblestones are being laid out for the driveway border. Jack's new wall is to the left.
November 7. View from the west. This is nearly final.
November 7. Panoramic view from the street. I really like this one.
November 10. Quick! What is the correct name for that thing on the roof peak?
November 10. Mike has finished the foyer tiles. Denise's inlay pattern looks like a carpet from the second floor.
November 10. If there was a worse plan for laying out the air conditioning ductwork, I can't imagine it. The ducts and air handlers have been installed in a way to screw up any other use of the attic.
November 12. A minor misstep at the old house. While moving things out of the attic, Jayne decides to try the "shortcut" to the 2nd floor. This is the second time she's done this unscathed. Some unscheduled ceiling repairs lie ahead. At least Austin sees the humor.

November 17. We managed to get a good match between the garage door stain and the siding.
November 17. The front door has been stained a mahogany color per Denise's advice. I would have never thought of it myself, but I like it.
November 17. Jack has finished paving the lower level entrance with native stones and mortar. Very nice work.
November 17. The bionic sheetrock guy is back, finishing the first floor. I want a pair of those stilts for Xmas.
November 17. Meanwhile, the upstairs bedrooms are getting painted with primer. I feel like I should hang a life preserver next to that porthole.
November 17. The view from my first floor study-to-be. As shown outside, the driveway has been paved.
November 17. The house as seen from Austin's (and my) favorite rock perch in the backyard. Vinnie, the world's most enterprising landscaper, has seeded and spread hay on the yard.
November 22. What's wrong with this photo? What isn't? 1) Hamper opens into baseboard heater. 2) Marble top missing on tub (broken in driveway). 3) Cabinet door hits window. 4) Light switch mistakenly located behind cabinet. Other than that, everything is fine!
November 22. Vanity cabinets have fewer problems than tub area. I caught the mislocated electrical outlet months ago.
November 22. Jack's masons put their finishing touches on the fireplace. They are terrific.
November 22. The house exterior is now completely finished. Given the colder than normal temperatures, I don't expect the grass to sprout before spring

November 27. Jackie helps me pack all the stuff that the movers won't touch into the rented truck. I made two fully-loaded trips to the new house.
