A concern has been how to move heavy exercise equipment to the finished portion of the basement. In particular, how do we replace part of the wool carpeting with heavy-duty gym tile flooring? Here, I've pulled back a corner of the carpet to reveal nail strips, padding and (what I believe is) a DRIcore™-type subfloor. My plan is to replace a section of carpet & padding with Swisstrax™ flooring.

I have been averaging about one new ceiling light fixture installation per day. Today, Jayne's study (the former "Moon Room") is getting a new light. This is a typical procedure...

I perch the fixture on top of one step ladder while standing on another one in order to connect the wires. I need to have the fixture within about 6 inches of the ceiling box

Engage the mounting screws by raising the fixture up. Then, while holding the fixture up against the ceiling with one hand, I attach the nuts with my other two hands. Wait, that makes three hands... No wonder this is usually a two-person task.

Yet another ceiling light fixture, this in the vestibule for Jayne's study. Many of these require that I also replace the wall switches to accomodate the LED lighting that I am using everywhere. The house was originally equipped with Lutron dimmers that were designed for more power-hungry incandescent and halogen lights.

Wall partitions are being framed in the room over the garage. This project was permitted, but not completed by the previous owners.

To accomodate the new shower drain, plumber Darren and I cut into the garage ceiling.

This releases an avalanche of poured insulation, which i tried, not very successfully, to catch in my green landscapers' barrel.

Darren connected the shower drain line to the other fixtures' main drain pipe. More cut sheetrock and even more cascading insulation resulted.

Back upstairs in the bonus room, Darren has installed the PEX water supply lines and the drain for the shower. I have saved the loose insulation in the large bags. Reusing the insulation upstairs is just a matter pouring it back into the cavities.

The back stairway is waiting for me to install the hanging chandelier. This will be a real challenge, as I will need to construct a temporary, special-design scaffold for this purpose.

Next, I need to install hanging pendant lights in Jayne's closet. I start with the light over the island. I should be able to do these in my sleep by now, but each one presents its own challenges.

After wiring it in, tucking the wires into the canopy and attaching the mounting nuts (always the trickiest part), I test the light.
